The San Francisco Women’s Political Committee (SFWPC) Board condemns the remarks made by Governor Newsom when describing the participation of trans women athletes in women’s sports.
We are at a critical inflection point in our nation’s history. Marginalized communities are being targeted and vilified in halls of Congress,the White House, and many state legislatures across the country – a tactic with a terrifying history and real world consequences in everyday life.
We stand in solidarity with all women in demanding better from our elected leaders. Transgender individuals deserve to live with safety, respect and full inclusion in every aspect of our society free from discrimination, violence, and political attacks.
As an organization dedicated to intersectional feminism, we recognize that an attack on any marginalized group is a threat to the freedoms and flourishing of all women.
Trans women are women.
SFWPC supports the recognition and lawful inclusion of women to the fullest extent and will continue to demand this from our leaders.
